Spreading the Wealth

Being 'fair' is very important to liberals. They define fair as taking more money from the people that earn it to give it to those that did not. Punish the productive to reward the idle. This is how a liberal views the world. He is compassionate because he wants to give your money to the less fortunate. You are selfish and greedy because you want to keep your money. So, if that sounds fair to you, you might be a liberal.
