Boldy going into the past!

Well, our commander in chief, President Obama, has decided what we really need is a high speed rail system. Why? Well, because they have it in Europe, of course! In fact, he points out in Spain you can travel the 386 miles from Barcelona to Madrid at 150 miles per hour! Of course, here in America, I can travel the 3,000 miles from the east coast to the west coast at over 600 miles per hour. It's called flying. Or I could drive at close to 100mph. These are the technologies that rendered the passenger train obsolete. But Obama thinks going 1/4th the speed from one fixed point to another is great, at a cost of only a few hundred billion in new spending. Yes, you can combine the flexibility of the plane with the speed of a car. As he outlined his proposal, which should have been drafted with crayons, he said "this is not some fanciful vision of the future". Finally he is correct, it is a vision of the past.

Gov't run health care kills again!!!

"It's impossible for me to comment specifically about her case, but what I could say is ... driving to Mont Tremblant from the city (Montreal) is a 2 1/2-hour trip, and the closest trauma center is in the city. Our system isn't set up for traumas and doesn't match what's available in other Canadian cities, let alone in the States," said Tarek Razek, director of trauma services for the McGill University Health Centre, which represents six of Montreal's hospitals.

There you have it. Another famous victim of government run health care. There are thousands of not so famous victims every year. Many die while waiting for treatment (6 months for angioplasty is not uncommon), or at best face a sub standard level of care, dictated not by their doctor but by a government official, who's decisions can't be appealed.

There are certainly problems in our system, most related to cost and availability of insurance. Government reforms are needed, but the government does not need to take over the system. Require insurance portability, mandate that coverage be available for pre-existing conditions provided the patient had insurance from a previous carrier, and at rates identical to all members of that age group. That prevents people who lose their jobs from being locked out, or prevents people from being able to change jobs. That's a simple fix that would benefit many. But we do not need to follow the socialist model, and shouldn't think that there are no problems in that system also.

Another Stupid Idea from Obama!

Well, they just keep coming. Obama has now decided that in the middle of the biggest financial crisis in history, with the economy on the brink of collapse, that this would be a good time to put a huge new tax on all Americans. Yes, to stop the phantom menace global warming, Obama wants to put in place a cap and trade system, and to sell pollution 'credits' to CO2 'polluting' industries (like your local power company). Now, the power companies won't eat this huge new tax, so guess what? Your electric bills are going to skyrocket. Just what the economy needs right now! Having trouble paying the bills? Wait until Obama jacks up your utilities cost. Oh, and gasoline will be going up also. And that means all the goods transported by truck. Or rail. Or by air. All more expensive thanks to this genius. And the best part? It won't reduce CO2 emissions at all, it's just a new tax. Of course, since global warming is not real to start with, he can claim 100% success in eliminating it. Which will be a big comfort to the rest of us, sitting in our cold dark homes, hoping a stray cat comes by so we can get a nice meal for a change. Guess that's what he meant by hope and change.

Obama to push for Assault Weapon ban

After only a month in office, and with the economy sliding further into chaos, Obama's AG Eric Holder has just announced he intends to push for re-instating the 'Assault Weapons' ban, along with a ban on 'Cop killer' bullets and closing of the 'gun show loophole'. Of course, Obama said repeatedly that gun owners had nothing to fear from him, that he supported gun rights. I knew he was lying of course, and now he has made it clear that he was. The justification of this ban is to stop the violent Mexican drug cartels, who are armed with machine guns and grenades (as per the ABC news story). Of course, these have been banned for decades, so that is simply another lie. As far as 'cop killer' bullets, they never were sold to the public, they were law enforcement use only. In fact they were manufactured by a company founded by retired police. Holder expanded the media-hype term to include any bullet that can penetratebody armor, which means almost ALL rifle ammo. Just like the 'gun show loophole', which is not a loophole and has no connection to gun shows (it simply means private citizens who are not gun dealers can sell one or two guns per month to other citizens without federal dealer license or 4473 paperwork), Holder (and we must presume his puppet master) is a liar. Personally, I am shocked that Obama lied to get elected. Really, shocked.

Obama to close Gitmo - Terrorists rejoice!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Thursday ordered the closing of Guantanamo prison and may start naming troubleshooters for the Middle East and Iran as he moves swiftly to repair America's tarnished image abroad. In a first-week flurry of activity focused squarely on rolling back some of predecessor George W. Bush's policies, Obama set a one-year deadline for shutting Guantanamo, barred harsh treatment of terrorism suspects held there and also closed secret CIA jails overseas.

And the results are pouring in! Terrorists around the world are rejoicing at our improved image and how it will make their job of killing us so much easier. "Before, many brothers were concerned they might be imprisoned and tortured. They did not want to have panties placed on their head like at Abu Ghraib. " said Abu Ibin Killinya, Al Quaeda spokesman. "Now they are more confidant and ready to kill the infidel. This is change we can believe in!"

It's all your's now, Obama!

George Bush is now gone. What will liberals do, they no longer have someone to blame for everything that goes wrong in the world? Yes, evil GWB, the man who gave more money to Africa to fight AIDS and poverty than any previous president. The man who gave us a medicare prescription drug benefit. The man who toppled the evil Taliban and the psychotic Sadaam, giving 50 million people a chance to live in freedom, while preventing any terror attacks in the US for 7 years. Bush made some mistakes, which were front page matterial for years. His successes were ignored. Now Obama can be held responsible for everything. Liberals must demand he withdraw from Iraq today. Leave Afghanistan tomorrow. Close Gitmo, stop interrogating terrorists, stop tapping their phones, quit looking at call history data. Oh, and still keep us 100% safe. Good luck, Obama. You'll need it.

Obama condemns Americans to die needlessly!

I haven't posted since the election, thought I'd give Obama a chance before criticizing him, but his recent decision to eliminate 'harsh' interrogation of terrorists forces me to respond. In essence, what Obama is saying is that he will let Americans die because he doesn't want to make terrorists uncomfortable. It has been documented that the harsh treatment of certain AlQuaeda big shots caused them to reveal several terror operations, some that were close to being implemented, and as a result saved countless lives. That all changes now. Terrorists captured red-handed can laugh at their captors and refuse to cooperate in any way, sitting back and letting their plans unfold and watching innocent people die. Make no mistake, people will die as a result of this decision. People that otherwise might have been saved. In his first big national security test, Obama put himself on the side of the terrorists, which is exactly why I didn't vote for him.
